Netcat Power Tools

The Netcat is a networking program version of the vulnerable cat program designed to read and write information across both Transmission Control Protocol TCP and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) connections using the TCP/Internet Protocol (IP) protocol suite. Furthermore, Netcat is specifically designed to behave as cat does.

Some of the many uses of Netcat include port scanning, transferring files, grabbing banners, port listening and redirection. You can work with Netcat in two different operating systems: Windows XP and UNIX/Linux. And this book will guide you the installation process of Netcat Power Tools in your operating system. Netcat being a rather simple and small program, it is no wonder that installation is straightforward, regardless of the operating system you choose.

Netcat is useful enough to have a place in most users’ toolkit. Whether you are a network administrator troubleshooting your network, a penetration tester assessing a client’s security, or just a user trying to learn something new. Netcat has two modes of operation: client and server.
